The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) provides travel tips for all individuals traveling and includes information for families traveling with a member who has autism. 


TSA states they will allow an individual with autism to be screened without separation from their group. You are encouraged to consult with a TSA officer about the best way to alleviate any concerns during your screening process. During this consultation, you should provide the TSA officer with any medication documentation or notification cards related to sensitivities or accommodations.  


Wings for Autism ®

Through Wings for Autism, TSA will allow a family with an individual on the spectrum to go through a practice run of the airport process. This practice run will include: 


  • Security checkpoint
  • Boarding pass
  • Boarding the plane
  • Airport taxi service
  • Deplane process
  • Leaving the airport
